How to dress your daughter for a dance or ballet class
The clothing should be comfortable, flexible, and allow free movement. If the dance school has its own dress code, follow it.
For dancing: A basic leotard, dance shoes, and possibly a warm-up top. Avoid clothing that is too loose and may get in the way during movement.
For ballet: A ballet leotard and tights, and possibly a short ballet skirt. For the first lesson, leggings and a fitted T-shirt are usually enough, unless the school states otherwise.
For the feet: Footwear according to the instructor’s instructions – for ballet, usually soft ballet slippers. Buy pointe shoes only on the explicit instruction of the teacher.
Hair: Tie long hair into a ponytail or bun so it does not fall into the face.
Accessories: Leave watches, dangling earrings, chains, and bracelets at home.
Pack in the bag a bottle of water and light clothing for warming up before and after the lesson. Before leaving, try whether your daughter can comfortably raise her arms, do a squat, and jump in the clothing.
