Ballet slippers are often listed as slippers for children and adults. In this case, the right size is crucial.

The full sole is designed for beginners. It covers the bottom of slipper from the toes all the way to heel. This provides better support for the foot.

Split sole - more suitable for advanced dancers. Allows greater flexibility.

Ballet shoes are made out of 4 basic materials. These can be combined with other materials that bring new production technologies. I am talking mainly about materials that guarantee the elasticity all over the foot.

Basic materials:

  •          Canvas
  •          Leather
  •          Satin
  •       Stretch materials

Canvas slippers are considered a basic level and also most common.

Satin ballet slippers sa po are used mostly for performances. Their maintenance is a little bit challenging. The material itself is quite slippery.

Leather slippers last longer, they are very pleasant but also more expensive.

Nowadays, many producers are coming up with models of ballet slippers made out of stretch, elastic materials, or they are sewn into the one particular part of the slipper. This material wears perfectly and probably is the most comfortable one.

In How to choose the right slipper?

When choosing the slipper, do not proceed in the classic way as when choosing shoes that you normally wear. Choose the material you want to dance in. As needed or recommended by a dance teacher.

The fingers should always be at the end of the front part of the slipper, with no extra space in the back and on sides. There is a rubber band on the sides, one or two. Either they are sewn or you can sew the elastic bands to the slipper according to your needs.

Slipper should fit you like a glove. Too much unnecessary space will not show the toe (leg) change - the "arc" is missing, which should be there and should be visible to the dance teacher. If you feel that you have more space in the slipper, try a smaller number.

It is also very important that your fingers are not tight, in the first position or in the plié position. You should be able to move comfortably. Also, you must feel no "pain" in the back of the slipper. If you feel any pulling, try a larger number.

Simply, they must be comfortable.
